My first FMQ quilt - I'm EXCITED!

A friend gave me this panel, but I wanted it square, so added the strips. The backing was also there, but had to be made square. With the instruction and encouragement that I have received from THIS board, I was brave enough to try FMQ on this quilt. Un fortunately my pics didn't seem to show the FMQ very well. I'm really pleased with it. There are only a few places that only I know about that are not quite the way they should be.

I will use this as a loving reminder of when I first started to FMQ.

Thanks to ALL of you on this board.

BTW, this will go to my niece in Wichita, who is due in August.

Congrats on the FMQ. Every time you do it, it will get easier and better. Be sure to practice your new designs on paper is my best advice. Oh and breathe while stitching. I love FMQ and I hope you will smile as widely as I do while doing it.

grandma7 07-05-2012 06:15 PM

Thank you all so much! I can hardly wait to do FMQ again. Think I'll just have to make up a baby quilt "just to have in case".....LOL

This same friend who gave me this panel also gave me some really pretty children's fat quarters, so perhaps I'll have to play with those.

What a lovely little quilt to remind you of your accomplishment. It makes me smile looking at it. I can see how this quilt on a wall to be viewed at all times would certainly make for a "sunny day" no matter what the weather is outside. I love it! I saved a photo of it and now it is one of my screen savers to make me smile too. Thanks.
