It is beautiful, good job.I have been planning to make this one. Too chicken to start. DGD is getting married in May and our gift to grandkids on their marriage is a Christmas Tree Skirt. I think I will take the plunge after the first of the year.

Thank you! It is not as hard as it looks. The most important thing is keeping the color sets in the right order. I didn't! Well, I did, but I cut with my template (homemade btw, drafted by me, and cut out of plexi-glass) facing the wrong way. BUT, I realized it on the first set and managed to save the day --and the fabric, I had no extra! -- by changing the order of the striped sets before I cut the rest. I ended up with the two darks (green and red) together but I think there still turned out to be enough contrast.

I looked up bargello and learned something new, thanks! I found this interesting link: http://quiltville.com/scrapbargello.shtml

I still don't have the tree -- we went hunting to cut our own last weekend with a permit from the BLM in Oregon, but we didn't go to high enough altitude to find a pretty fir or something. I'm still recovering from Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) and was amazed how sore I got on the half day outing, plus we ran out of daylight.
