Aren't OBW's an absolute thrill to do? Love your layout. Do you plan to border it? Please show us when you finish. Great job.

Beautiful quilt and that is a great idea! I set my hexagons with black but I like the half triangles much better.

Is this as hard as it looks to make? I love your colors. This will be beautiful. HOpe you don't have any little pets like my two that love to lay on anything I put on the floor.

No pets, DH is allergic to everything that has fur! I miss pets sometimes and other times there are benefits. The hardest part is getting the fabric lined up and cut correctly, I had a few I discarded due to mistakes.

My girlfriend gave me really good advise - she told me the easiest and best way to quilt a top was to follow the design in the fabric if possible or the design of the quilt. She has been quilting for over 60 years. Hope this helps you see your way. Thank you.

Found a picture of the original fabric!
Thanks for the encouragement, I'm going to need it when I start quilting. Its on my Get It Done in March list.

All those different hexagons came from the one fabric? Oh Boy, I think I have to try this!

mary123 03-15-2013 07:45 AM

Did you wash your fabric first before cutting?
I got a book on how to make this and it says don't wash your fabrics first, and unfortunately I had already washed most
of my fabrics. Just wondering if it would work out very well using washed fabrics.

janiesews 03-15-2013 08:13 AM

I wash ALL my fabrics before cutting. This is for two reasons: because I'm scared it will shrink unevenly and because I also make medieval costumes and always wash clothing fabric to shrink it. That way, all the fabrics in my collection are prewashed/shrunk and I don't have to wonder. I like to use spray starch to keep the fabrics stiffer while cutting.

JoanneS 03-15-2013 12:23 PM

I love OBSs, and yours is gorgeous! I hope you have enough of the original fabric to put on the back or use as a border.

matraina 03-15-2013 12:46 PM

Love your quilt but what exactly is a One Block Wonder?

onthemove 03-15-2013 01:03 PM
