This has no back and batting yet but I am glad i got the top done. Getting that paper off the back was not fun. It is kind of bright. Thanks for looking. i don't think PP is my favorite.

Congratulations.....a lovely runner. I do know what you mean about "picking" off the paper.

gmarty 01-31-2017 12:48 PM

Your table topper turned out very nice, points look perfect. Haven't tried pp and will someday I guess. Seems like an extra step getting the paper off. Nice job!!!!

Lilrain 01-31-2017 12:52 PM

Very well done. My paper piecing efforts so far have not been the best

JuneBillie 01-31-2017 12:55 PM

That is so pretty.
The first block I did last year pp, I felt like jumping up and down. I found using that technique so fascinating. I loved it after I learned all my steps in the process.:)

At first I didn't like taking off the paper, but after I adjusted my stitch length it was ok.

Very cute table runner. Just in time for Valentine's Day. You did a great job. Paper piecing is not for me tho'

QuiltnNan 01-31-2017 01:17 PM

turned out great. pp is not my favorite either, but sometimes it just makes the blocks better

I really like your runner top. The tricks for removing the paper are short stitches and thin paper. I also prefer to crease each paper firmly before I begin, which tends to weaken the paper. For foundation piecing of scrappies however, I like to use old phone book pages. My first really happy PPs were Dresden plates and NY beauties.

Good job! There is a paper piecing technique that uses freezer paper instead of regular paper. As I recall, the way it is done involves ironing the fabric piece to the paper, then fold the paper back along the stitching line and stitch very close beside the fold but not actually on the paper, then add next piece of fabric the same way. When you're done, you can peel the freezer paper off and reuse And since you never actually stitched through the paper you don't have all those little bits of paper caught up in the stitches to deal with.

Anne Peterson has a lesson on doing this kind of paper piecing in one of her Craftsy classes.

Very pretty.

I love your runner suz! YOu did a wonderful job on it for your first try. A natural I am thinking. I just ordered a eighth inch trimmer to work on some paper pieced ornaments I have in the process. The quarter inch seemed just too wide to trim to for these little projects.

Keep up the good work! I really like it.

BrendaK 01-31-2017 08:10 PM

Very pretty. BrendaK

We'll at least you gave pp'ing a try...I think it looks great and will be a nice Valentine decor.

Geri B 02-01-2017 05:15 AM

Great job, looks terrific, and you accomplished something new! Can't beat that, better than avoiding it. I am not a fan of pp, only do it if I really, really like the pattern...and then I have to give myself a refresher course in it!

lorimax5859 02-01-2017 06:59 AM

Nice and bright colors - I like it!

annette1952 02-01-2017 07:35 AM

Very pretty! I really like to PP. I haven't done any lately but I think it is so fun & I always love how perfect it looks.

Innov8R 02-01-2017 09:04 AM

http://www.quiltnbee.biz/shop/Block-...5-x7562107.htm There is a video on this site for piecing with freezer paper. I love this method. So easy.

Ada Shiela 02-01-2017 02:37 PM

That's a lovely Valentine runner; well done with the PP which is not as easy as it looks sometimes.

marymm 02-01-2017 05:00 PM

I have rubbed q-tip soaked in water over the seam lines on the paper after finishing the sewing. The dampness makes it easy to tear the paper off. It may depend on the type of paper you use.

redquilter 02-01-2017 05:34 PM

Adorable! Great job. I'm not a paper piecer myself and admire those who are.

skaduzy 02-02-2017 07:10 AM

I like that a lot, Suzanne. It's nice and bright and just right for Valentines Day. I love paper piecing if someone else does it for me!

tessagin 02-02-2017 07:16 AM

Your table runner is adorable.

redstilettos 02-02-2017 08:29 AM

Suz, that's awesome for a first (or more) piece! I want to tackle it. What did you learn?
