The Phoebe Bag is one of the first things I a saw when I came on to this board. It was very easy to make. I did make it a little more difficult on myself by using a kinda stiff fusible on the lining, besides the fusible fleece I used on the outer fabric so the bag would have body. I also made the handle longer and added a extra pocket. It was fun and I would like to make more and also reduce the size and make them for my Granddaughters. I never thought I would ever be making purses. Also I learned a new stitch the Ladder Stitch, which I learned watching a video tutorial someone posted the other day. Think I will use this purse tomorrow when I go to Jacksonville QuiltFest.
It is a free pattern http://artsycraftybabe.typepad.com/t...phoebe_bag.pdf |
VERY cute! Love your fabric choice!

Looks good! I have wanted to try my hand at making a couple purses/bags for gifts, but am a bit intimidated by it for some reason...
|
That is really cute! You did a great job on it. Where did you get the pattern?
|
Beautiful bag! Great job.

Like your bag

Fab!

Greta purse! Your changes may have made it more difficult, but they certainly worked out well for the bag. I am in the process of moving to Jacksonville now (my husband has been there 2 months) and tried to work everything out to get to the show but I'll have to miss it. Have a wonderful time!

Barbareeba -- you did great! I posted the link for the bag a while ago. I made one too but I cannot post a photo. My only comment is I found the magnetic snap so strong I am in danger of tearing the fabric. I have covered the snap with strips of velcro and it works well. I have also added a metal ring on a strip of lining for my keys and put a second pocket inside too.
Moonangel12 -- the bag is 9 1/2" deep and about 11" across the top at the opening. You can judge if your Bible and notebood will fit. If not, you could print out the pattern and enlarge it as needed. |
