It is 'much'. I tell my two grandsons who got my first two quilts that they are the best because I learned so much making them! And I truly believe that.

However, in terms of true skill, they aren't great, but they are LOVED and fraying after 5 years. That's another thing that makes them the best!

Looks great to me! I wish mine looked half as good :)

KathyJ 05-08-2013 06:10 AM

Looks good to me too. Your meandering is nice & even & they look alike. My first ones looked like a drunk was pushing a chain. Not nearly as pretty as yours. Great job.

dianeinsterling 05-08-2013 06:34 AM

You did fabulous. Pat yourself on the back for a job well done.

fiberdiva 05-08-2013 12:38 PM

You did a GREAT job. Mine does not look that good. Good for you. A little tip I learned from a friend. Practice on a whole cloth quilt that you whip up out of say muslin. Then when you are done with it you can requilt over it in different colored thread. Works for me.

nanacc 05-08-2013 12:40 PM

Neat quilt! Great job on FMQ! My quilting is still pretty 'iffy'. (Meaning....IF you stand back far enough, it's okay!)

watson's mom 05-08-2013 12:59 PM

You did a great job especially for your first try. Congratulations, and thank you for sharing.

I just want to show all of you I am trying, lol.....I had a lot of trouble with the thread breaking, I think I was trying to go too fast. Speed is my problem, always trying to get er done, lol...This is small -37x37 but it is a start. Not sure I can handle a larg one. I am going to keep practicing. I know that is what it takes. Ok, hope all has a wonderful day. Happy Quilting to you all.

If thread keeps breaking, check the bobbin thread tension. If thread does not pull out smoothly without any jerks, it is too tight! I had this happen on my Grandquilter machine and watched a guy on youtube named Jamie Linn (I think) did what he said and now it works just great!

fantastic quilting

Auntie Em 05-08-2013 03:20 PM

You did an awesome job!! Wish my first one looked like that!!!

sewplease 05-08-2013 04:39 PM

It looks good on the front; it looks good on the back. Even the binding looks good. Good+Good+Good=GREAT! Way to go! :-)

ccthomas 05-08-2013 04:58 PM

Nice quilt.

Cogito 05-08-2013 05:08 PM

Excellent first try! I have been scared to make that leap, so kudos to you!

sewdamncute 05-08-2013 05:13 PM

Great job! Nice and even.....

SouthPStitches 05-08-2013 05:14 PM

You did a very nice job; cute quilt.

jeanharville 05-08-2013 05:24 PM

I think your quilt is very good. Your corners and seams look good on your piecing, the FMQ looks pretty consistent and not overly quilted and your binding lies flat. I think you should be proud of yourself and your quilt. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Great job!! Keep practicing! Practice makes perfect!

trolleystation 05-09-2013 12:08 PM

Love your dark 'special' squares and how you picked up the colors from them for your other squares. I have been quilting for 30 years and still do not have the courage to attempt FMQ. I think that the lack of funds to have a LAQ do my quilts will drive me to learn.

jmgregory1944 05-09-2013 12:14 PM

Wow I think that is great.
