Me, too - I say "Wow"!

catladyquilts 11-07-2012 09:41 AM

you did a great job and the colors are great. It seems like a lot of people choose the dresden plate as a first quilt.

debcavan 11-07-2012 09:47 AM

That does not look like a first quilt. It is wonderful. You did a really great job.

LindaMRB 11-07-2012 10:30 AM

Great job!!!! My first quilt did not look that good!!!!!

Thanks to all of you for the encouraging comments! I followed the Eleanor Burns "Egg Money Quilts" tutorial for this quilt. I have sewed most of my life but it was always clothes and craft stuff, so I decided it was time to make a quilt. Now that I've made one, I'm addicted! There are a lot of mistakes in the quilt, and my seam ripper got a work out, but I think I've learned from that one about what not to do! I did stitch in the ditch for the quilting and stitched around each petal in the plate and around each nine patch square. The one I'm now making for my grandson isn't very complicated so it isn't taking me as long as the Dresden did. Thanks again for your encouragement!

You've done an excellent job on your first quilt. Colors are spot on & your 9 patch corner stones make it unique. Can't wait to see what you do from here!

IzzysGrammie 11-08-2012 04:12 AM

I love love love the Dresden Plate pattern and you sure did it justice for your first! There's so much prep work with the cutting, sewing, and pressing of the blades, but oh so worth it! Nice job!!

calicojoan 11-08-2012 07:03 AM

One word B E A U T I F U L !! My first was a dresden too, and I had no idea what a quilt was at the time. I used fusible applique and was devastated when it fell apart in the wash. (who knew you had to stitch down fusible) :D You are obviously leagues above where I was with my first quilt!! Great job!

EmiliasNana 11-08-2012 07:37 AM
