I made this 112x112 quilt for my first. I sure learned a lot by trial and error. I have a Janome 11000 SE and wanted to try the embroidery feature so I did all the square centers with a flower. I stitched the binding by hand. For a beginner, I am happy with it but might not advise anyone to take on such a big project for a beginning start.

Very pretty, and cool idea to embroider the centers. Really getting your money's worth from an embroidery machine. Super quilt, and a "first quilt", too. Congrats!

Your quilt is beautiful. Glad you finished it.

Congratulations on having made a truly beautiful quilt!
That said, I agree with your advice to other newbies to start with a smaller project. FWW. I've pieced a whole bunch of log cabin blocks similar to yours with white squares in their centers - which I intend to machine-embroider. I still haven't gotten up the courage, though. (If I screw up, everything is ruined, right ;-)) Your post has given me some much needed encouragement. Next time, I'll do the machine embroidery BEFORE I cut those inner squares. |
You did a super job on your first quilt!
|
Good job.
|
Very pretty and great work for your first quilt.

You just had to go big. I did the same thing. But boy what a great felling when you put in that last knot. Congrats.

Very good work. WAY better than my first. Pat yourself on the back.

Nice. Love your centers

Alice, the picture is great but does not show how beautiful the colors are, you did one heck of a job and deserve to be very proud of all your work ! I am glad I was along with you on this your first of many beautiful and successful quilts ! I watched you and marveled at your determination ! I don't know anyone that would have made a King Size Quilt for a first project and finished it the way you did.... Betty

you are right, it doesn't look like a beginner pattern - you did a fantistic job, don't tell it is your first, and no one will guess
|
Very nice!
