Any suggestions on why the back is so bumpy looking?

I do but it took me forever!!!!! I decided it was to hot to hand quilt during the summer so I put it off until it got colder then I got a job and now I'm never home. But I DID IT before summer again :lol: .

I have now started a yellow brick road.

I think "bumpy" is a preferred look! Your quilt is gorgeous. Such fine workmanship. I've also heard quilitng referred to as "crinkly goodness." I think you achieved that! :D Make more!

your quilt looks fantastic!!! I agree the bumpy look is a preferred look. I like the bumpy look!!!

I am curious about something though... if you are concerned with the bumpy look, is your batting 100% cotton? Did you presoak it before using? If not and you quilted and then washed your quilt, you will be a more "bumpy" look.. this is also known as "antiquing". I think the antiquing look really makes a quilt look beautiful and well loved!!

Presoak the quilting? Are you supposed to do that?

If you handwash your batting and heat dry, the shrinkage will be much less later on. Some do, some don't, same with fabric washing.

great job on the quilt! I like the "bumpy" look too, I'm sure it is from the batting shrinking during the wash. I love mine that way...makes them just look cozier!
