Ok, I'm going to be brave and post a pic of my first quilt top. In the end, it became my "learning experience" quilt. I purchased charm squares from ebay and didn't realize that they weren't all perfectly cut. Some were obviously wrong and I recut them, but some weren't so obvious, so when I began matching seams, I ran into some problems. I ripped some out and fixed, but in the end, in frustration, I decided it wasn't "off" enough to bother me. At this point, I don't think I'm going to make a border. I'm thinking about backing it with an orange polka dot and since it is my "learning" quilt, I will practice SID to quilt it. If anyone has other suggestions for the backing, I'm listening!

Good color choice. Love it! Good job. Can't wait to see your next quilt.

I think that's a super idea! And not only can you practice sid, you can use it for all future practice. Use a highly contrasting thread to help with your lessons. Black even. Use an inexpensive backing - muslin would be good because it will be easy to see your quilting efforts. I am wishing I had a big quilt like this designated for practice. You did a great job, btw, putting together a quilt with goofily cut fabric. Been there, done that, and I feel your pain. :-)_

One of my first quilts was made from the same material off ebay! I think yours looks beautiful. I used flannel for the backing. It can be hard to work with. But anyway, I think you did very well!

Great job!! I don't think it needs a border as long as it is the size you need! Orange polka dots sound cute for a backing. In regards to quilting, I am the most inexperienced here!! I might just do lines--straight, kinda "wonky" or wavy.
