This is just the top...but it's done!!! I still have a lot of work ahead of me...still trying to figure out what kind of batting and backing I'll use...but the top is DONE!!! I'm so excited. I know it's nothing spectacular or intricate, but this is my first quilt, so I wanted to keep it pretty simple. I'm quite happy with how it turned out and just had to share!

That first finished quilt is always special and yours is great!

That's how you start learning to quilt. Start with simple and work your way to "What was I thinking?" I've had a few of those. As a matter of fact I'm trying to do one now. You did a nice job on your top!

You did a great job lining everything up, I believe we have a great quilter in the making with you! Thanks for sharing and I am rooting for you to get it finished soon. Please post another pic when it is done. Feel free to post with any questions you might have and make sure you search the tutorials available on the board, you will learn so much.

You should be proud of yourself - Smaller things lead to bigger things....what's next ??? :)

Very nice! You have to start with baby steps and work your way up. But, for a first quilt, it's great!

Thanks everyone! I was really intimidated before I started...but also really excited. While I won't say this was easy, it certainly wasn't as hard as I was expecting it to be! I've sewn a few baby blankets that I now know are really basic quilts (basically two pieces of material sewn together inside out and flipped *lol*), so this one was a much bigger project for me, and I'm please with how it's going so far...now for the actual quilting! I'm still super intimidated when I look through all of the pics here, though!

This one is a throw for the couch (to replace the super ugly fleece that's just hanging out there...maybe I'll use it as my batting to get rid of it, it might be just the right size! ;) ) and I think my next project will be for my 5yo daughter's bed. I bought material to do a blanket for her ages ago and was planning to do my previous super basic quilt with it...I think I'll be a bit more creative with it now, but I'll have to be careful because it's pretty stretchy.
