My First Tablerunner
2 Attachment(s)
I was asked by a local quilt shop owner to write patterns for kits using my designs for her to put in her shop. This weekend is the Iowa Shop Hop and the organizers designed a focus fabric and Robert Kauffman produced the fabrics.
So she wanted me to use this fabric for the Shop Hop. I have 4 pattterns ready to go. The owner Kathy made one wall hanging sample and a tablerunner sample and I made one tablerunner sample and am working on a wall hanging. So this is the first tablerunner I have ever made! I am a miniaturist and rarely work on anything larger than 18" x 18" so this was a stretch for me! LOL She has the largest accuquilt cutter and cut all the borders so I didn't add the Iowa Border to this. I did lay the top on the Iowa fabric so I could get the look of hte border. We are only doing the tops as that is what the kits are. This is the Iowa Fabric they came up with. It is directional and not that easy to use. I debated about fussy cutting but with all we wanted to do it took too much time. I may see about playing with some Dresden Kaleidoscopes with it later on. |
That is so pretty!! I love it.

You did a great job!!

The table runner is really a cool one. The colors are so refreshing. Hugs

Very nice! I'm coming to Iowa/Nebraska in September, I'll have to watch for the fabric.

You did a great job. Nice color choices.

nicely done

thanks everyone. I always wanted to do a tablerunner but didn't have the courage. so this pushed me into actually making one.
The colors I pulled out of the fabric. We have to use Kona solids which is another thing I don't do usually. |
Love the pattern.

Very nice!

Great Job!!

Really nice.

I like it! I guess if you're going to branch out from mini quilts, table runners would be the next logical step. If you're feeling really adventurous you could try mixing some of these great blocks with your beautiful Dresden Kaleidoscopes for a very unique runner or table topper. =)

thank you everyone for your nice comments. they are much appreciated! of course I can point out all the flaws! LOL
I have a new Brother (well new 2 yrs ago and not used til now) and when I shut it off it resets the needle position to the left. So when I turn it on I have to remember to reset the needle to 1/4". I forgot to do that so I lost some points! Maybe later I can redo it and fix them. Kathy needs it for now to display. |
Oooo I like it!
