So, this was my second quilt. It is a queen size. I found this material at Wal-mart and really liked the pattern so I bought enough to sew it together and tie it. I know it's cheating..haha but it's still a quilt. This was the first time I had tied a quilt. I might go back and add a few knots. I was thrilled though. lol. I just realized I didn't show the binding in the picture, it is a chocolate color, it makes the colors stand out very nicely.

Love all the plaids! Great use of lights and darks too! I like a tied quilt, it's not cheating, just a different technique!

Your quilt is very pretty Heather. I tie most of all my quilts, and no i don't feel like we are cheating by tying them. I'm just learning to quilt by hand. I think you did a great job!!!!!!

nice! looks comfy and warm. was the purchased as yardage or did you make ALL those squares?....

Actually to clear things up, I bought the material as yardage...I didn't cut and piece each square. That is why I called it cheating, because I just bought a few yards worth of this beautiful fabric and cut it in half then sewed the sections together and put the binding on it. When I made this, I was planning to make a tied quilt so I could get it done in a weekend. Then, I came across this material at Wal-Mart and decided to use it instead of actually piecing. lol

Nice job! It still qualifies as a quilt and you still put some hard labor in it.

Your cheater looks good  I did buy two xtra wide cheater material.. I purchased the double wedding ring... As soon I as I get the hinterberg set up I am using them as my practice material.. The way I look at it a quilt is a quilt is a quilt

Nice work!
My Grandma ALWAYS ties her quilts. I remember playing with the yarn when I was a kid. Actually, my Mom always ties hers, too, and there is one lying on my leg right now. It's also just a solid piece of fabric (flannel).
A quilt is a quilt is a quilt...no matter the how. :D
Pretty fabric, too!
