These are lovely. And I hadn't even thought to grow sunflowers in pots, obviously you can and very successfully too. Or are they Jerusalem Artichokes or something else in that family?

Airwick156 06-20-2011 01:12 PM

Great pics. Thanks for sharing. Have this "wet" spot around some bushes that only had fern...Put some Hostas and coleus in there. They love it.

Your flowers are so pretty! How do you get that moonflower to bloom already?

mamajack3 06-20-2011 05:36 PM

Beautiful! I used to have a moonflower but we moved and I lost my seeds to start another one. I loved the silvery look they had in the moonlight.

Jingle 06-20-2011 05:44 PM

Nice job. All your flowers are very happy to live at your house.

Adequate water plus keep piling dirt around trunk to give more support, or plant by a fence.

Very nice, do you have luck planting your moonflower seeds? I don't, I live just across the lake, in Mi so zone 5.........when did you start your sunflowers? The rabbits ate mine and I think it might be too late to replant............sheesh.............calla

RedGarnet222 06-23-2011 04:51 PM

I love your teddybear sunflowers. So pretty! Well I love it all the moonflowers and hostas too. LOL!

Ever read the book The Moonflower Vine? I can't remember who wrote it now. But what a neat book.

You nick the seed with a nail file and soak them 48 hours before planting. Works for me every time.

Quilter7x 06-23-2011 04:58 PM

I love moonflowers - but yours is a different variety than mine. Yours is a perennial and mine are annuals. Yours grow bush-like and mine grow like morning glories. I have mine planted already, but won't get any blossoms until the end of August or early September. They actually take that long to flower.

I absolutely love your flowers, they're really beautiful!
