A very generous freecycle lady shared a recent stash she was given with me. She told me there was about 40#. We estimate it was more like 120+. These are mostly 2 yard cuts but some as high as 10 yards. I am busy cutting mini quilts for Operation Quiet Comfort whenever I have the energy and not sleeping. Have 10 tops cut and 2 tops done so far.

How great she was to share that with you, and you to share your talent by making those quilts!

I'm not familiar with the term freecycle lady, how do I get one?
If they pass on wonderful things like your new stash I really want to find one!!LOL!
How nice that someone passed on such great fabrics for your project! And how great that you pass on such wonderful gifts to those in need.

Freecycle is a group that cycles all things they can not use back into the communitie for free. Go to search type in your county name and freecycle. They have these groups all over the country.

Operation Quiet Comfort is a groupt that supplies mini quilts to soldiers injured in Iraq and other places so they don't get cold on way to hospital.
They also send a lot of other things that the troops can use. They are online at www.operationquietcomfort.com
All help is appreciated. They all so make large deniem quilts for the people who help take care of our troops. Doctors nurses etc.

Thank you all for viewing my great stash. I am starting to feel a lot better and would like to set a goal of 25 quilts for Christmas (and hope I can do a lot more lol.) I really enjoy this work and encourage every American to look into what they can do to help. (without getting into a political discussion I have done great because this cause is my passion).

Have a great day everyone. Linda

:D Way to Go Maxine. They can use all the help we can give them. Sent for the sample deniem quilt kit yesterday. Can't make those as fast but when I am bored with mini quilts (yeah like that will happen) I can work on a big quilt.

Thank you everyone for looking at my stash. Hubby is empting the upstairs so I can have it for a sewing room Yea!

Everyone have a great day

Quilty Hugs for all

Bevanger 09-20-2008 06:04 AM

How cool is that??????? I love Freecycle. This summer we got a almost new looking wooden picnic table... I just gave away a big bird cage. It sure helps to have them.....

Marcia 09-20-2008 07:19 AM

What a great free stash. And so generous of you to make donation quilts with it

Joan 09-20-2008 07:34 AM

That's great and what a good cause to use the fabric for...

I just set up my first exchange on Freecycle! I am giving some games and the lady asked if there was anything I wanted. I told her I am very spoiled and really only joined to give and possibly get fabric, but I don't really need anything else. She just happned to have finished a quilt for her bed and offered some extra fabric! How fun!
