This was a pattern I purchased and made with all hand dyed fabrics included. It was a fun project - I know it doesn't match anything specific in my dining room, but I think it adds a softness to the room.

Gorgeous! It is a piece of art and does not have to "match" but if it bothers you..... it would "match" in my dining room

i like that in the room

Wow! That's neat that you dyed your own fabric! Nice colors!
|
Your quilt is wonderful. I love it.
|
Love it!! I think it's the same one that I have but haven't made yet. How did you quilt it? Your quilting shows the most on the gray border in the picture.
|
Thanks - I took it to my lqs to have it quilted - with black thread as I wanted something a bit dramatic to show up, in case I decided to hang it high in my foyer. I think the photo pattern I purchased shows it being quilted with gray - which would have blended into the fabrics more. I did not dye the fabric, luckily it came that way. I enjoyed working with hand dyed fabric, but that is one hobby I just can't include with all the other interests I have! I did as the pattern suggested, and pre-washed, it did bleed quite alot, even with proper preparation.

A great work of art can hang anywhere! Beautiful.

Love the colors and modern look.

That is a WOW quilt in my book. I looks great on your wall.

I didn't think I would like the Gees Bend quilts but the more I see the more I like them. Yours is beautiful.

If anyone's interested in making one, you can still get the patterns or quilt kits. I bought one but haven't gotten to it yet. I knew about the fabric's needing to be washed carefully, etc. and want to do it right so I'll wait until I get some other projects out of the way and can concentrate on doing it right. I've been to several Gees Bend related events....a showing in Auburn, AL at their museum, a play based on the characters lives, seen their film on PBS, etc. We aren't that far from Gees Bend, AL, and I like the historical aspect. And those colors are wonderful. The fabric isn't very soft....probably due to the dye, but I'm going to love that quilt, I just know!!!

Striking :-P

It's a gorgeous quilt! |
The quilt is beautiful. It actually brightens the room as art would do. Great job. If in doubt, I think it would look good on my dining room wall.

Love your quilt! I've been fascinated with the story of the Gee's Bend quilts and their makers for a while. Here's a link to the site for those who don't know about them.
