Thanks for the input. I think I'll try what you suggested and audition various border colors. It won't be very wide because I think it's going to get too wide if I do. I had pretty much nixed the idea of the piano key border because of that. So, thanks for the nudge (even though mine was for different reason- it did get me thinking- I'm still fairly new to all of this).

Please consider just a very small inner border can be as small as 1" cut which is only 1/2" finished. It will break up the two parts. I think you need this transition in whatever outer border you choose. Looking forward to seeing it complete!

It is WONDERFUL! Will look so bright & cheerful in your camper. Makes me want to do one for our motor home. It needs some brightness in it.

Yes, I was thinking of a very narrow red border, matching the center square and then "audition" others for the outer. I do have enough of a mossy green to do a border. I'll see what else I have in my stash. I'm determined to do this one completely from my stash. I even found enough backing to do it all one print. It was in a haul I got from a friend's dad who used to quilt. When he died she gave it all to me! I'll show the finished product when I'm done. Thanks to all for the kind words. I really can't wait to get it done!

They are 1 1/2" strips. I've seen them wider but I just prefer the narrower log.

Beautiful!! I love it. I have the blocks squared off for a scrappy broken star log cabin, my favorite blocks!

pineneedles4 04-30-2012 05:53 PM

I always love the log cabin pattern...I never bore of seeing how many different ways it can look depending on the fabrics used and the layout! I'm working on a red, white and blue log cabin quilt for my brother and the next one I make will be Snake River version! Love your red centers!

Sarint 04-30-2012 06:13 PM
