My mother ordered them from BeeLee, I think they have a web site. You could just use small buttons, shirt buttons etc that aren't considered pretty enough for the front.

This is awsome, I loved to play with buttons at my gramma's too.
I call it button theraphy. It is like running your fingers thru sand.

OH, I just love this quilt.
My Memere had a tin of old buttons, so when us cousins would go to her house.....we would sew the buttons onto paper to make designs. It would entertain us for hours lol.Thanks for bringing back that memory for me!!
Your granddaughter will cherish it forever, I'm sure.
