My paternal grandma lived to be 100 years old and was sewing up until the very end of her life.
She had seven children who had numerous offspring and she made a quilt for everyone of them. My daughter was a g-grandchild and was lucky enough to get a quilt too. I've been collecting pictures of the quilts from all my cousins and hope to have a collection to share with the family once it's completed. She used every kind of fabric imaginable - polyesters, knits - it didn't matter. She just loved to quilt....and she quilted everything by hand...didn't use the sewing machine. Here are a couple pics of some of the "colorful" beauties |
Barb,

Nice quilts. You have treasures. I love the fabric on the back of the first one.

What nice memories you are keeeping alive.

Neat quilts. Good idea to have pictures for the family to share.

What a lovely tribute that will be to your DGM. And what a beautiful job she did by hand. I have NO talent for hand sewing, and am in awe of anyone who can sew so beautifully.
|
That is so neat. I really like seeing the older patterns and colors too.
|
That is so cool that you have your Grandmother's quilts. She left quite a legacy.
|
that is just sweet! I hope I can keep quilting up until my last days. God Bless your grandmother!!!
