I don't think this was a "garbage pick" as you call it, it was a very green thing to do - quite PC in fact, economically responsible and sound. Congrats on your new find!

great find! If you want to mend, try a little wood spackle, apply and shape, then stain. Or , just touch up with some Old Enlidsh polish and it will not show as much. Always smart to pick up something that you can put to good use.

thanks, first thing out of my husbands mouth when he saw it was "how much was THAT". "Free honey"

I just put that part to the wall and added quilts, you cant even see it.

I have a hutch that was stored in a shed and a squarle at the bottom, I think it just adds to the natural rustic look. Just use some old english, its a great find.

I would call it eco-recycling. :) Much better than garbage picking. Plus, one person's junk is another's treasure.

Great find!

Good thing you were driving, my hubby would of speeded up or ran it over to use as fire wood and still called it recycling! Way to go on your part!!

Great find. You're the only one who will see the "chewing". Everyone else will be looking at your beautiful quilts.

Great find! What do they say, from trash to treasure.

When we were kids, our town had a 'clean up day' once a year. It was like a 2nd Christmas! We were so excited, were up at the crack of dawn and out scavenging. By dinner time, we (there were 7 of us) had quite a haul. We found all kinds of stuff in great condition and lots of games that had never been played.

In spirit, I was right next to you when you picked the quilt stand up!

Hey, I have one just like that! Minus the rodent chewing. I got it at Goodwill and had to pay $10 for it.... it was considered furniture.

Wicked good find!!! Welcome to the world of "garbage picking" or better known as "be not wasteful - recycle :)"

Cool find. And Ps. LOVE the attic window in the background! I just finished one recently, can I ask , how did you quilt it?? what method.

Tinabodina 01-12-2011 01:29 PM

Great find! A little stain will cover the mark. One mans garbage is another mans gold.

I see it as rescued. It is now a survivor.
