I don't use a hoop for applique either. Perhaps just the scraps was confusing with embroidery? Now that I must use a hoop for.
Boston, here is a good trick I learned, when pinning your pieces in place. Put one pin on front to hold the piece, then pin the rest from the back and remove your top pin. This way you never get your thread caught on the pins! |
No hoop for me , Argentina. I'm not the best at it but I agree it is fun to do.

I use a touch of Roxanne's glue instead of pins, but once I run out, I'll be using good old Elmers glue. Just a teeny, tiny drop, no bigger (in fact, smaller) then a tiny pin head, in 4 or 5 places. No puckers that way, and no pin pricks! |
