I bought some of the carpet cutter blades 45 mm from Harbor Freight quite some time ago and they worked wonderfully, but I bought some more the other day, and they won't cut at all. I finally had to give up and go to Jo-Ann's and buy one there.

Harbor Freight has more great things for quilters than I think they realize. Shhhh, don't tell 'em. They might start charging more for items we are using for quilting. I have all of the items you purchased. You have made a great buy on all. I love that store, those suction cups alone are a major coup as they sell for so much more in a quilting catalog. The things I find may not have been made for quilting, but there is nothing wrong with making them work. Way to go!

Make sure you don't have 2 blades stuck together, that sometimes happens and they won't cut.

Great finds, I wish I had one near me, but I don't, probably safer on my wallet that way.

After impaling a sewing needle in the bottom of my foot (which required surgery to remove) I purchased a telescoping magnetic implement ($3.99 at Harbor Freight) that allows me to pickup needles and pins that I am so bad about dropping on the floor without bending over - I also have learned to wear slip on sandals or slippers while walking around the house now LOL.

Just got back from a jaunt to HF with DH. Those yellow SnapGate 10' measuring tapes with the carabiner clips for belt or purse, etc, were only 99 cents!!!! Great stocking stuffers for boys of all ages. Of course, I bought one for myself too!
Thanks Louise for giving me a boost on my HF shopping list. |
Lots of fun, Louise! Love Harbor Freight almost as much as I love fabric stores!

Krystyna,
At least at HF they don't ask me what I plan to make with what ever I buy. A few weeks at Joann's pretty much went like this: fabric cutter: so what are you going to make with this pretty fabric? me: Make? (small snicker inserted here). Nothing, just wanted to buy the fabric to look at. Than stick it in my stash where all my other fabric goes too. fabric cutter: You don't sew? Me: when the mood strikes me, but I love fabric so there fore I buy. Granted the girl cutting fabric is new and has never cut fabric for me before. But she was beginning to think I had more than a few fries missing from the order. I did fess up that yes I do sew, not as often or as much as I want/should. But when I see pretty fabric my mind starts to work frantically imagining the fabric in xxx pattern with xxx fabrics as complimentary fabrics to join it. She had a big laugh (all the other ladies cutting fabric KNEW me so they knew I was just having fun with the new cutter. She was smiling the rest of the time I was there shopping.
