My heart quilt

I saw a pic of this on here, and decided to copy it myself. It was much easier than I thought! Applique has become fairly easy for me (especially after doing the dance of the dragonflies LOL).

I also managed to figure out FMQ thanks to my new machine.

Here's the front of the quilt. It is all done, just needs to be washed. So if you see any "marks" it's just chalk.

A close up of my FMQ.

I did some FMQ of hearts on the front of the quilt. Hard to see because I used the same colour thread. I traced outlines of hearts and then quilted them. It was so easy compared to my last sewing machine!

I had posted this pic in another thread illustrating how I was finally able to do FMQ. Someone asked if I had a template ... yes! The front of the quilt - doing the hearts.

that is better than my FMQing. I quit but may try again soon.

I like that, and hadn't seen it before. Guess I missed it. One of these days I'll get good at applique.

I love the layout with no borders. Glad you chose that. It's a wonderful quilt! Nice job.

Wow, that came out great. I bet you are planning another one right now.

JoyjoyMarie 04-27-2018 04:56 PM

Nice quilt and FMQ! Your stitches are so even. (Mine are often wonky)

Tartan 04-27-2018 05:46 PM

Cute quilt and congratulations on FMQing on your new machine!

I like your choice of full heart appliqué only and the FMQ hearts give it a perfect finish! So very pretty!

Good job making own pattern

SusieQOH 04-27-2018 06:27 PM

That came out great!!!!!!
What machine did you buy?

Ariannaquilts 04-27-2018 08:38 PM

I really like that I saw a table runner on Pinterest that was the same or similar. You did good on your FMQ as well as the applique.

Nice hearts. I like the way you put the hearts around. Very neat looking.

Great job with your new machine! I Love the heart themes and your colors. Looks like a fun project.

I really like your quilt. That would make a nice wedding gift for someone you love. Using a template/marking is about the only way I can FM quilt. Your quilting turned out wonderful.

Nice quilt.

Irishrose2 04-28-2018 04:52 PM

Very nice. The stitching is so even. What machine is it?

DebbieJJ 04-29-2018 04:03 AM

Great quilt.....beautiful design and colors!

MarionsQuilts 04-29-2018 04:33 AM

It is the brother dream weaver ... I had the Topaz 30, but just couldn't get the fluidity with the FMQ ... I had pretty much given up. I haven't got the talent to just "whip up some FMQ" ... I need to trace something, but it's finally a good start!

Thanks for all the comments!

I haven't seen this before. Very unusual. I like it. Love your colors, too.
