My inspiration to start quilting

Last December, I walked in to a few quilt shops, debating if I wanted to start quilting... and then I found these CHICKENS... Chickens with PANTS no less! And you all know the story after that!

nicely done

Lisa49 11-29-2012 05:00 AM

I have this same panel of Roosters and I made a wall hanging for my step-daughter for Christmas and finished it in October. Her whole kitchen is done in Roosters and red, white, and black. I can't do anything else or want to at this point because we just found out last week that my husband has brain cancer and I am just out of my mind trying to deal with it all. Please pray.

HillCountryGal 11-29-2012 05:24 AM

Love the fabric AND your quilt.

Isn't it fun to find inspiration, then follow thru?!

treelady 11-29-2012 05:55 AM

Love Chickens and these in pants...how absolutely awesome!

Kathy T. 11-29-2012 06:01 AM

Thank you for posting this picture. The chickens are adorable, but it's how you set them that made that light bulb go off in my head! I have just a few novelty rectangles left over from another project and I can set them this way and make a great kid's quilt. Thank you SO much!! I hope mine turns out as good as yours ...

Jingle 11-29-2012 06:10 AM

Cute chickens and very pretty quilt.

tracibug 11-29-2012 09:13 AM

Thank you, ladies... It was my first quilt and still makes me giggle every time I see it. Hoping I'll finish the back and get it quilted soon though. :-)

I found this panel at Family Theads in San Juan Bautista. It's called French Hens by Timeless Treasures.

Hang in there. My daughter has had a liver and kidney transplant this past Feb,
SHe is doing well now, but it has been quite a year.
There is so much that can be done now, check everything out and get the best
Dr that you can find. We were lucky that hse lives in Durham, near Duke Hospital
which is one of the country's best in transplants and cut of the edge knowledge.
Let me know how things are going. Joan

sewdamncute 11-30-2012 06:21 PM

How cute! Nice job!

SouthPStitches 12-01-2012 06:14 AM

My best friend collects chickens and several years ago she did made this hysterically funny, funky appliqued quilt. Believe the pattern was called "Hens on Heels". Chickens with these outrageous shoes.

You did a wonderful job with your quilt. Love the pants on the chickens!

Maralyn 12-01-2012 08:12 PM

Lisa49-your and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Annz 12-01-2012 09:16 PM

You gave the chickens a good home.

nancia 12-04-2012 02:45 PM

they are wonderful! you must get the book, 'why animals don't wear clothes'. you will love it! i'll check on the title and correct it if needed!

OK. the correct title is Animals should definitely not wear clothing, by judi barrett. it's a kids' book, but adults like it, too! your chickens in pants made me think of it and gave me a good chuckle!!
