My Jan UFO finish

1 Attachment(s)
I started embroidering the blocks for this quilt in 2008, and after putting it down and picking it up again several times, I finally finished quilting it in 2017. It is a wall hanging for my SIL, but since she is on the shorter side of tall she could use it for a lap quilt.

I like that. I do embroidery squares also. Just finished one, now looking for another set to start. I like the way you bordered this.

Very nice. I've got 4 and 5 year old embroidery patterns I've yet to start.

Well worth the wait.

Very nice and I am sure you are so pleased that it is done! Lucky SIL

I forgot I was going to mention where the embroidery patterns came from. They are actually applique patterns for a quilt called "Baskets of Bloomers" in the book "Simple Blessings" by Kim Diehl.

Nicely done, that's another quilt on my "Roundtoit" List.

Nice wall hanging for your SIL. I like your designs and impressed that you saw embroidery opportunity in an applique pattern. You did the redwork stype and it looks great.

KathyJ 02-11-2017 07:49 AM

GREAT finish!! I also embroider & this is the perfect inspiration. I usu do redwork but this blue is really pretty. Tks for Sharing. Kathy

I love embroidery incorporated into quilts, and I also find that appliqué patterns can also serve as embroidery patterns. Nice job!

You did it! I just love it when a work gets finished and is ready to gift. Such an elevated feeling. Your sis is going to love using it.

I embroidered those same flowers on a quilt I made several years. It is now an UFO.....looks like it is time to finish it up.

sJens 02-11-2017 02:31 PM

Love your quilt--really like quilts that have been embellished with embroidery-beads-etc.

oldquilter 02-11-2017 05:25 PM

Really pretty.

minibarn 02-11-2017 08:18 PM

Thank you everyone for the kind words.

I really enjoy embroidering, especially adding it to quilts. I have another embroidery project going for another wall hanging but I'm only half way through the blocks.

twinkie 02-12-2017 03:21 AM

Don't you just love it when you complete a UFO. I do.

copycat 02-12-2017 04:28 AM

Congrats on finishing your Ufo! It is lovely and your hand embroidery makes it extra special.

kaylfordsollimo 02-15-2017 03:30 AM

Lovely. I still enjoy hand embroidery, too.
