Hi folks!
I have been busy with my quilting and the kitchen renos are moving ahead sometimes at a snail's pace ! It is SO much fun living with two dishwashers, two fridges, and no counter top space! But I thought I'd post some pics of 2009 at my house in Newfoundland!

Michael's (Nephew) wedding gift. It is queen sized. Top done but it isn't layered yet!

Creative Woman (Debbie Mumm) panel that I made into a lap quilt top with paper pieced log cabin blocks.

As I uploaded the pictures, the contractor and my husband were conferring in low voices... (bad news I was sure!) Another wall that we weren't planning on replacing has to come out. Then when I got in on the conversation we decided to rip out the pantry and laundry room walls and do a reno in there as well... we should be done in June!

As for me? I have a clean quiet sewing room waiting for me! How much can I get done in February!?

sandpat 01-25-2009 09:11 AM

Love love love what you've done!!! With the quilts and the kitchen!! And now more...the laundry...good gosh woman...have you no shame??? You are making the rest of us look bad! Keep posting the pics though, I really think you are having to do this many quilts just to keep your sanity while the renovation is going on.

Izy 01-25-2009 09:36 AM

Wow Mamagus, I can't believe what you have managed to achieve with all the disruption going on....there again, if you have a sewing room and can shut yourself in....well I think you are still terrific for getting all those beautiful quilts done ....Hats off to you!!
:D :D :D

Love the Quilts ! And the kitchen ( and now laundry room) will be worth the wait ! Enjoy your time now, cuz once all the remodeling is done the family might expect you to use the kitchen   Which will cut into your quilting time ! LOL

Wow and I thought my own progress... hahaha, I don't envy you one bit though, I hate having the house all torn apart. Each time we do something with the house about a month or so from the end I'll say "I hate it, I hate this house" and DH has to pat me on the head and say "You always say that, and then you always love it when everything is done."

Harmony 01-25-2009 10:44 AM

Your quilts are awesome! With a sewing room to hide in and a handful of take-out menus, you can live with anything! Bet your kitchen will be worth all the pain and the waiting!

CissyQuilts 01-25-2009 11:03 AM

You are a creative woman and a super woman! The quilts are fantastic! Good luck with your kitchen remodel. We need to do ours but I do not want to even think about that right now.

My kitchen will have roosters as part of its country theme, but a quilt? Erin (DD) says I should get a rocking chair and drape it over the back of that!

Bevanger 01-25-2009 02:06 PM

Wow, you've been busy.... Everything looks good. Your kitchen looks like my house right now. (packing) I have these little paths between boxes to get to kitchen, bedroom etc.. :?

Janstar 01-25-2009 04:49 PM

Your quilts are great and your remodel looks like fun! Been there, done that!! Good thing you can get yourself away from it.

zyxquilts 01-25-2009 05:29 PM

The quilts look great! And the kitchen is really coming along too...good luck with it all :D

Pam Pollock 01-25-2009 05:42 PM

Love both your quilts. Your chicken quilt is so adorable!! Can't wait to see the new chicken squares you will add to another row. Kitchen remodel is a pain I'm sure...but it will be so nice when it is finished.

Memalinda 01-25-2009 06:31 PM

The quilts are beautiful I especially love the chickens. We redid our kitchen this past summer and it sure is hard in an old house (built in 1938). We had to replace all the walls with sheet rock. It was really worth all the agrivation because now the kitchen is beautiful. I was not so lucky though to be able to quilt while it was going on because I was painting and fell of the ladder and broke my left wrist right into the wrist joint so no quilting for me for a long while. My wrist did heal fine and now I can cook in the new kitchen and I can quilt to my hearts content.
 Linda

Great quilts. Lve to see your Kitchen when it is done.

Marcia 01-26-2009 07:12 AM

Lori--I LOVE your quilts. Your nephew's is really pretty!!

Another row on your chicken quilt? How big is it? Have you considered doing a border instead? One of my chicken quilts I made a narrow black border, then pieced a border out of my leftover chicken fabrics (if you need more I can send you some!!)

Your kitchen is going to be awesome!! You may get used to two dishwashers--I have 2 in my kitchen and I love it!! Wonderful when the whole family is here.

.

It is square-ish now... 70 X68. Another row would make it 68X84. A better size I think.

And thanks for the offer of more fabric, but I think I will be passing on the kindness you showed me... when the chicken challenge starts I'll send off some envelopes!
