Both of your quilts are absolutely beautiful!! Im just learning to use my embroidery machine as well as learning To quilt on my domestic machine, so both of the quilts have intriqued me to keep learning. Im curious about your quilting...do you use a pattern, how do you apply pattern if used and do you have any good ideas for a newbie to all this?
Any advise would be appreciated! |
The eagle quilt is absolutely gorgeous. Love the pattern and the eagle embroidery.

I love your Afternoon in the Tropics! Great colors and another unique log cabin. I also do machine embroidery, so I know how much work went into those eagles too! Great job. You inspire me.

Beautiful quilts! Are the flowers on the log cabin applique or embroidre?
The log cabin blocks were foundation pieced on interfacing (not sure what you call it over there, the stuff you put into facings for dressmaking) and the flowers were satin stitched machine applique |

Any advise would be appreciated! I have only had my new embroidery machine for 6 months so still learning but I have joined an embroidery group and sew with them every 2 weeks (I have to drive 60 miles but it is so worth it) My husband works away from home 1 week on 1 week off and I don't sleep very well when he is not here so spend a lot of time on the computer late at night watching youtube videos on machine quilting. I just search machine quilting and you will be amazed at what you can find. I tend not to mark a design but spend a lot of time doodling on paper. The best advice I can give is practice, practice and practice some more and don't be too harsh on yourself. A friend once asked me why I make so many table runners and cushion covers and I told them they were small and I could practice my quilting on them:) |
Thank you so much everyone for your kind words, now to drag my last PHD out of the cupboard and finish it. My New Years resolution, make as many quilts as I want to, use my stash so I don't feel guilty buying some more:o and most of all have fun with life and be kind every day

Both are gorgeous. You did a wonderful job of quilting.
Beautiful, both of them. Where did you get your eagle designs to embroider and how big are they. Am wondering if my hoops are big enough to handle them or if I would have to split them. I love the way you have set them together as well. The other one is beautiful too, but the eagle one is my pick of the two.
Both of your quilts are stunning. My son would LOVE the eagle one. Your quilting is spectacular!!!!!
Amazing - 19 bobbins ..........for someone new, this is a very interesting information - you must be so pleased ....

They are both beautiful. Your hubby is one lucky man. I am glad to see other people use embroidery in their quilts too.
Very nice. I love the applique quilt, 3 generations to finish it and now you've got a family heirloom!
OH my, I will never get one finished with as many small pieces as you have. I just keep using the bigger blocks and easy patterns. Maybe someday......
Both are beautiful. I bought a new embroidery machine a couple of months ago and really aspire to do something as pretty as your eagle quilt.
The appliqued flowers are beautiful, and I like the background in each square. So much work! But definitly worth it!
Absolutely gorgeous! You did a fantastic job. Can't imagine 19 bobbins!
