Here are pictures of my last two baby quilts that i made. The Pinwheel quilt is the one where I discovered that i had turned some blocks the wrong way. By then it was too late to fix it and the baby shower was the next afternoon. I gave it to her anyway. I also thought that i might try that pattern again and turn more of the the blocks because i kind of liked the look.

Thanks for all your comments. The other pic i tried to post was too large so i had to figure out how to resize it without calling my son. I will try again. Here goes nothing!

Thanks, bevanger. this one was for my cousins, first grandson. The cute little animals were machine embroidered. i used the same designs on my first grandsons quilt 7 years ago. at that time joanns had cut jungle prints in different colors that went perfect with the embroideries. this one turned out so diffewrent but still pretty cool.
Nice quilts. Both of them.
And I love your "safari" quilt -- it's so cute!!
I like the turned block and the colors are great. So bright and vibrant. Babies love bright colors so your choice of color was right on.
I'm told that the Navajo intentionally weave flaws into their rugs to allow the evil spirits to escape. When I realize I've done something like this, I just figure the project won't be haunted by evil spririts. I, too, didn't notice the turned blocks at first. I was looking for turned pinwheels. If you hadn't said anything, I would have thought it was supposed to be that way.
It's very pretty!
both the quilts are beautiful
Thanks again for the comments. The Amish intentionally put mistakes in their quilts because only God is perfect. I never have to do it on purpose!
I did not know that about the Amish. My ancesters are Amish, and so I'm always interested in learning more about them. My grandmother was an extraordinary quilter. She was Brethren, which is an offshoot of the Amish faith. I like thinking that I have quilting in my blood. Both of your quilts are beautiful.
Thanks, though Now that I think about it , it could be the Mennonites that put the mistake in. or maybe they do it too. I always thought it was the Amish. Anyway, i usually end up with a mistake in my quilts somewhere. Most are usually not so obvious. But I think that i will make another pinwheel quilt sometime and turn some of them on each side-it makes a more interesting border.
Both your quilts are really nice. Good job.

Sewmom,
Your quilt is beautiful. I really like the wrong-way blocks, it looks like a neat computer game where the tumbling blocks are supposed to go through the block gates! I like it! |
