I hope I can get some feed back on this just something off the top of my head

CAROLJ 08-03-2010 04:56 PM

I'm doing something similar. What are you doing for the borders? The same as the sashes? So far it looks pretty good.

trouble 08-03-2010 04:59 PM

I'm not sure yet,

MinnieKat 08-03-2010 06:18 PM

I think it looks great! I should get busy with something like that to use up my scraps...

trouble 08-03-2010 06:21 PM

Thanks I used old dryer sheets on my string blocks and there are four blocks to make the diamond

Ritzquilts 08-03-2010 06:22 PM

I love scraps so it looks good to me, good job

Hey,looks good.I'm making one just like it. I got a roll of the paper sheeting used on the examining table from my Doctor. It makes an ideal backing for PP and is easy to tear off. Try it,you'll like it.

I woud have made the sashing smaller in width. The red is calling me! I love the strip piecing.

trouble 08-03-2010 06:33 PM

The dryer sheets have been used and I just press then out

wvdek 08-03-2010 06:35 PM

Comfy cozy quilt.

trouble 08-03-2010 06:36 PM

thanks

I think you should do a piano key border using all the scrape material you used in the quilt.

earthwalker 08-03-2010 06:38 PM

Looks good...seeing as how your sashing is wide, are you considering a scrappy border with a thin red binding? Love the colours - keep us posted on what you decide.

trouble 08-03-2010 06:38 PM

I like that

trouble 08-03-2010 06:39 PM

thanks I will let you know

Piano keyboard same width as sashing with red binding came flashing through my mind :D. Beautiful quilt no matter how you finish it.

Morning, love anything that reduces stash and this is looking mighty nice. One time when I had extra wide sashing, I appliqued something at each intersection within body of quilt. It looked so nice that I am doing the same with a bug quilt for our grandson. He is 3 and can follow a bug a block! Anyway, my bug jars are set within black background and then I am appliquing huge bugs into the intersections of block. Anxious to see it done. Good luck with finishing yours. Looking nice. Congrats.

Lools great, scrappy border would look nice.

All Thumbs 08-04-2010 06:58 AM

Extra thought, with all that beautiful red, maybe a huge pattern of roses appliqued would bring a nice affect, but then again, it all depends upon who gets the quilt.

I have asked my doctor and chiropractor for their end rolls. They said they use it all up.

shikha 08-04-2010 07:25 AM

I love it.

DoxieMom 08-04-2010 01:41 PM

The blocks are beautiful, but the sashing is a little too wide for my taste. I agree with board members' suggestions about a piano key border with red binding and adding something at the intersections in the sashing. Both would help balance the width of the sashing while highlighting your blocks. Please keep posting your progress!
