I've made a few of these chickens. This one is smaller than the others. I wanted to experiment. This one is for my FIL, but I may make another and use it as my pin cushion - its just the right size. :-)
I also practiced my FMQ on it... I need LOTS of practice....sigh.... |
oh that really is a whimsical one!! looks like maybe it is a cuckoo bird not a chicken??? LOL
|
We sold those same pincushions in our last quilt show, they did really well. They are a lot of fun to accessorize.

Thanks for all the replies - busy weekend and I didn't get back here to check! LoL
SueFish: "oh that really is a whimsical one!! looks like maybe it is a cuckoo bird not a chicken??? LOL" Yeah, it does, doesn't it??? LoL KwiltKrazy: "We sold those same pincushions in our last quilt show, they did really well. They are a lot of fun to accessorize." That's good to know! :-) just_the_scraps_m'am: "LOVE it, got a name yet?" Nope - its going to my FIL for Fathers Day so I'm gonna let HIM name it. When they lived here for a couple of years, he always wanted chickens (we live on a small farm), so now, he's getting his wish! ;) Kygirl: "Thats a cute struttin' rooster.lol" Yeah, well, my FIL thinks he's one too! Ha ha Thanks again for all the nice compliments. Its fun to make....I've experimented with a lot of different things for the comb and tail....this was by far the most difficult, and the placement of the comb is a tad off (ya think??? lol) but it looks good otherwise, I think. Don't know if I'd make it with that again. I've tried fuzzy yarns, and I've cut fabric into tiny strips and used that too - neither of which was as real looking as this stuff. But what a pain! Tiny little feathers going everywhere! I'm going to keep making them tho. |
