I wanted to make one of these for ages. I wanted a quick and easy way and this is what I came up with. Very simple. the binding took the longest believe it or notīī
This will keep me warm during our winter as the houses which are made from concrete are very cold at this time of year. Front Back |

Hi, Yes it is fussy cut and then appliqued on by machine using a fancy stitch.
I used the basis of a Tutorial on this board. Go to Tutorials and search Jackets. I followed the excellent one by Terri. You can line them or not. I didnīt with this one but probably the next one I make I will. |
Love you jacket!!! Give us a tutorial on how you did this.

Just get a sweatshirt 1 size bigger than you would normally wear and cut the back and front, then the sleeves off. cut the ribbing off the sleeves and the bottom of the shirt. I then ironed the pieces and cut my fabric out using the shirt as the pattern. I then fussy cut pieces of fabric out and appliqued them on using a nice stitch. Sew it all back together and thats it. Hope that helps |
Very pretty! A nice way to stay warm.

It was a large piece of batik fabric I had and it wasnīt suitable for the quilt I was making so it came in handy after all.

Very pretty jacket. The oriental prints give it a very special elegant look.

Hilary you will find this really easy and quick to do using a large piece of fabric to cover the sweat shirt first and then use any type of appliques to add a bit a pzazz
