I havent posted any pictures for ages (havent done much sewing this summer) so I thought I'd show you my latest effort! My niece Kelly is expecting her first baby in January and this is the quilt I've made for the new arrival. Her Mum was my youngest sister but sadly died aged 39. She had quite a collection of frogs which is why I added a little frog in the corner! (Kelly will understand why Ive added the frog ) The FMQ leaves a lot to be desired but I did my bestl....I call the quilting "Karens squiggles" lol!

Thanks everyone for all the lovely compliments.....I feel as if I've been welcomed home! I see lots of familiar names and a lot of new ones....'Hello' to you golden oldies and a warm 'Welcome' to any newbies that have arrived since the last time I posted!
I feel as if Ive got back into the swing of things so hopefully I'll be putting more pics up....I'm back into trawling round the charity shops looking for fabric for my scrappy quilts! Nursie 76, ...Yes I did FMQ round all the figures..it wasnt too difficult once I got the tensions right. That was what I had most trouble with! lol ! Thanks again! Karen xx |

You should be proud of your quilt. I bet your niece will treasure this thoughtful gift. It's beautiful!
|
I absolutely love it! Where did you get the fabric? Online?
|
I got the nursery rhyme blocks online (a shop in Wales) but the gingham I bought from a Hobby craft shop in Sheffield. I remember when my girls were little ( in the 70's) gingham used to cost me a few shillings a yard.....the gingham I used on this quilt cost almost £10 per metre! .......those were the days! lol!
