Just had to show this little Cutie off!!! I am not one for buying older machines, I just have no room! But this Beauty came to me FREE!!! With the Cabinet, too. It is a Morse 600, with instruction book dated 1956 and a price tag at that time for $199.95. It weighs about 45 lbs. I did have it checked out, the belt was dry rotted and the power cord had a slit in it. But works beautifully! I really fell in love with the little oil can, it is soooo cute!
Took it for a spin today, made 2 of the pictured Dresdans on the Morse and the other 2 on my Sapphire. Love this turquoise color! It is in great condition! The cabinet still has the tag on it from Montgomery Wards. Anyone know anything about this machine? |
nice and I like the oil can too...........

I can remember sewing on a morse so many years ago... lovely machine

I never heard of Morse before, and how often do I need to oil? The manual is only 7 pages, very vague.

Thanks, Candace, for the info. I know it purrs like a kitten when I sew on it. Will try out all the attachments tomorrow.

Congratulations. :-D  That oil can is cute.

Very NICE! I love the look of the cabinet too. Enjoy!

Sorry, I don't know anything about the machine, but I love the oil can and the dresden.

I got one of these old Morse's free too. My husband and I were talking about it today. I want to get it out and sew on it. I have no clue where to oil this machine. Could you tell me?

My mother had one of those and I remember her sewing on it when we were growing up. She kept it until about 3-4 years ago when she moved into senior apartments. She didn't want to take the Morse with her but did take her Singer 201. When she passed away 2 years ago, her Singer came to live with me. I do regret to this day not taking that Morse machine.

Oh my, this takes me back. I learned to sew on my mother's old blue Morse. How I wish I had that machine now. It is still going. My sister has it.

Lucky you! Enjoy your new baby!

Wow! It looks brand new. I'm sure you will have fun sewing on your "new" machine.

Hi! I have a Morse 600 just like yours, I call it "The Baby". Sure doesn't sew like one..what a powerhouse! I also have a Morse 4500. I'd put either of them up against the plastic new ones any day. You're right on the year. The Morse was originally guaranteed for life. All metal parts. Back in the '50's they used to take them to the trade shows and have them sew through a wooden ruler.....Hmmm! See ya, Mari

Congratulations! Cute machine. Hope you have a lot of fun with it.

I have researched and looked a dozens of pics. Still, I can't find out... does it zigzag?!?
|
What a beauty and it appears to be in great shape. You can't beat free. ;)
