When I started, I chose a teal colored sashing. What a mistake, the blocks just disappeared. Had to unsew three rows. The fun or challagene about using feed sack is that if you don't have enough you can't run to LQS or Joann's and buy more. I do have lots of the same feed sack, but by the time you trim and remove the salvage you lose some inches. And remember the feed sacks are only about 36 x 45 if whole. Floor sacks are about the size of a fat quarter.

Fabulous, simply fabulous! And oh how I love those challenges that lead us to those pieced backs/lining.
Great job!

I have a few, can you tell me about how many you need to do a quilt? Or a wall hanging? without considering the backing

Think of it as a scrappy quilt. Depening on the pattern. If my pattern calls for a lot of yardage I look to see how many I have with the same pattern and adjust my selection to fit. Sometimes I have to use reproduction as fillers.

As always, you have done a fabulous job!

Rachelcb80 10-27-2010 08:25 AM

Oh gosh! I LOVE it!!! I have a very modest collection of feedsacks but at this point I can't bring myself to use them. If I had eight or nine hundred I think I could use some to make a quilt with! :)

auntiehenno 10-27-2010 08:26 AM

Thank you.
I've never entered any of my quilts in a show. MY DD said she thought it would be an honor just to have people look at my quilts.
