While waiting on my SIL to tell me what colors she wants, my BIL said he and his wife would like black & gold.

Here's what I will do for them. I found some gorgeous fabric at the quilt shop for it today. I'll go get it tomorrow.

Well, I got one block done so far  . The gold is actually a little darker than in this pic.

Oh, Drunkard's Path--I have not made that block yet (but it is next on my URR quilt). That will be stunning in those colors.

Vicky Navarre 10-14-2008 07:14 PM

WOW, that is very pretty...I have not tried a drunkards path either...is it difficult? Keep us posted on your progress...I am very interested in the process.

sewnsewer2 10-14-2008 08:06 PM

maggiebooboo, 1st I put on my don't get aggervated hat, then I cut my curves.

 No, really what I did was cut a stencil from stencil plastic, trace it onto the fabric or in my case, I just used my rotary cutter.

I snipped the gold piece about every 3/8 inch and about 1/8 inch inward, then placed the pieces like this, then pinned it in 5 places and sewed it.

maggiebooboo 10-21-2008 07:27 AM

And they really lay flat? That is all there is to it? I would think they would pucker. I will have to do some experements.

maggiebooboo 10-21-2008 07:28 AM

By the way, I love the brown and gold fabrics that you picked out. It will turn out very pretty.

sewnsewer2 10-21-2008 08:44 AM

Yes, when you iron them they lay flat because of the snipping.

It looks like brown, but it is really black w/gold leaves. My camera is color blind sometimes.

reneebobby 10-21-2008 09:27 AM

Wow looking good.

Diane007 10-17-2012 06:28 AM

nice block... thanks for the tips

IzzysGrammie 10-17-2012 06:48 AM

This fabric is beautiful and I love the pattern! You have done a beautiful job on this!

For those of us wanting to try this pattern, Eleanor Burns "Quilt in a Day" has a great and simple way of creating the Drunkard's Path that will blow your mind. She starts with circles on squares and it's the color placement and cut that allows the pattern.

lue 10-17-2012 06:50 AM

Can hardly wait to see the finished product. It's going to be lovely!

Jennie and Me 10-17-2012 04:38 PM
