I love pastels. Very beautiful. I can't wait to get working on one. I have two different fabrics and not sure which one to go with.

and where do you buy yours? Fabricland? Lens?

The only cording/piping I have used was on throw pillows and Christmas stockings and they were fairly thick (about the size of your little finger). I have found Len's to have more colour selection than what was at Fabricland. The Fabricland in Stratford though is now called a home decor center and has improved their inventory on their trims, etc.
There was a posting here where a member made flange as part of their binding. It was a flat flange, not like cording but it give a unique look. I will see if I can find it. I should have bookmarked it at the time because I thought it was a nice idea to dress-up a quilt edge.
