WOW!!! That looks exactly like what I have on my "want" list.

Yarn or Fabric 08-08-2010 10:37 AM

It's wonderful! I hope to one day have a room big enough to keep a permanent pressing table.
That is a great table!

JJean 08-08-2010 10:40 AM

Check-check-check-check! We all need one just like yours! :-D

Absolutely perfect. Where can I get one?

virtualbernie 08-08-2010 11:14 AM

That is really, really nice! Wish I had room for one like that. Still waiting for my grown children to leave...

We bought the shelving unit at Ikea and turned it on it's side, bought a "craft board" and "L" brackets from Lowe's Hardware and got ironing board fabric at Pacific Fabrics.

Assembled completely in about an hour.

Is it moveable so that fabric can hang over the side by the wall?

Looks great!

belmer 08-08-2010 11:53 AM

I love it.... It is the perfect idea. I even showed my DH this post. hint ....hint...hint

Looks great!

It's about 3 inches from the wall and could be pulled out more as needed.

Jim's Gem 08-08-2010 12:50 PM

LeeAnn 08-08-2010 01:07 PM

Very nice!

wvdek 08-08-2010 02:50 PM

Wow, just what I need.

What is 'craft board' and what do you like about the fabric as oppossed to just cotton to iron on?

stpatmom 08-08-2010 03:05 PM

Another idea for my dream sewing room when the kids move out and I can have a bigger sewing room. Only about 12 more years if I'm lucky. Of course I say that now, but I'll be crying when they really do leave the nest!

littlehud 08-08-2010 07:23 PM

Wow, that is great. Thanks for sharing.

Bluelady 08-08-2010 09:12 PM

IKEA here I come!

How tall is it? Taller than a regular ironing board? I do get tired of hunching over and messing my back and shoulders up.

annette1952 08-08-2010 09:51 PM

Wow! You are so creative! I thought your sewing studio had everything before! This is just the icing on the cake! LOL

I don't exactly know what craft board is, LOL. We went looking for a sheet of plywood to cut down but they were pretty rough and there would have been waste. Farther down the aisle there were these really nice boards with no knotholes that were the perfect size. Mine is 20 by 72 inches. The had bigger and smaller.

I like to use the reflective fabric because it helps heat up the bottom side of whatever I'm ironing and it doesn't stick so bad to adhesives. I love the fabric from Bo-Nash but it doesn't come big enough.

I sprayed the board with adhesive, stuck the batting to it, sprayed that layer with more adhesive and stuck another layer on. Then sprayed that and stuck the top fabric to it. Turned the whole thing over and stapled it around the edges. Creases smoothed out the first time I used it.

I chose this one for it's height. We looked at some others that we would have needed to add feet to. This shelf is about 37 inches plus another inch for board and padding. Perfect for Jenni and I and we are both about 5'8".

akgranny 08-08-2010 10:28 PM

way to go! like this alot!

soleegirl 08-08-2010 10:29 PM

love it. what is the cabinet and where did you get it

IBQUILTIN 08-08-2010 10:35 PM

I sure like your sturdy part. And just the right height for you. I am only 4'11", and all of them are too tall. Especially a counter height cutting table. grrrrrrrrrr

Aunt Retta 08-08-2010 10:38 PM

Very Nice!! I bet it works very well!

AnnaK 08-08-2010 10:41 PM

Great ironing board and space!

5'8" would work for me! since that is how tall I am..

I found lots of short stuff! You should really look at shelving units or end tables even. I bet you could find something perfect.

Katia 08-08-2010 10:53 PM

That is amazing ! Maybe if I remove that shelf and that rolling cart and stuffed the other stuff in the closet, I could make room. Hmmm, or.....

I am getting my sewing room to a place I like it, almost. My poor husband just rolls his eyes when I tell him a new idea. Although I don't know what he has to gripe about, I put the last Ikea shelf together all by myself and nearly ripped my dang arm off in the process. It was one of those big Ikea cubby shelves. But if I wait for help, I will wait awhile.

I do love that ironing table though. Perfection !

SueDor 08-09-2010 03:49 AM

Very nice!

peaceandjoy 08-09-2010 04:40 AM

Love it! Thank you for sharing the idea. I'd never thought about putting a unit on its side. Hmmmm....

brushandthimble 08-09-2010 04:46 AM

That is one of the best pressing units I have seen.
Showed my DH too. Just need a larger room:)
