as you can see, she made it for me in July 1998, sadly she passed away in December of that year :( but this is a wonderful reminder of her. She had made approx 4 other quilts that I know of and I will endeavour to get them online too.

She got the quilting bug after a visit to Maryland in 1995ish, and with little to no support in the UK at that time we had to rely on making do with what we had in fabric shops here, and also parcels of bits that my dad remembered to pick up on his frequent trips back to the USA.

The quilt is beautiful!! And you have something extra nice to remind you of her. Just think -- everytime you wrap up in it, your mom is hugging you.

It is gorgeous! I love the purple.

Picking that purple took us ages as we were looking at browns/yellows etc that are in the squares, and then we spotted the purple as it was different to the colours already used. Bit of a brave step but it certainly worked.


When I get a bit of spare time next year I'll dig out the books etc that she had and have a crack at some quilting, so I can try to give something like this to our "on the way" baby hee hee

I love the colors the blocks just pop.

What a wonderful gift she left for you!! That is something to treasure forever. I think it is great you want to make something for your little one on the way!!

What a beautiful gift your mom left for you. It will hold the memories of the special times you had together and keep them alive forever.

I hope you will pull out your mom's quilting books and make a quilt for your own child. Every time you wrap your little one in it you will be making memories that you will cherish for years to come.
