My quilting protoge's first quilt – jelly roll
1 Attachment(s)
I had a high school student inquire about making blankets for Project Linus for community service hours. I've supervised kids doing this in the past, but it was usually making no-sew fleece blankets. This girl wanted to learn how to use a sewing machine – woo hoo!
We started with a raggedy baby blanket, then she helped me sandwich a baby blanket, and then she made one doing most of the work. We worked on a few little things, and then I instructed her on how to make a jelly roll quilt with strips I ordered from balibatiks.com, and she did every stitch herself! I am so proud of her, I let her keep the blanket, and she was thrilled! |
WTG! That jelly roll quilt looks amazing in batiks.

Great quilt! Another quilter is born!

It came out great!!

I love the strips broken up with the black squares - it makes the top so much more than just strips sewn together. Well done teaching a newbie and kudos for letting her keep the quilt.

I usually don't much care for batiks, but this quilt is quite lovely. Congratulations teaching a "new quilter".

Love the batiks and love the black squares. You are wonderful for teaching your skill to someone new. A memory she will have for a lifetime. Kudos!
