my quilting this summer

2 Attachment(s)
the first pix is one I finishd when I got to Maine in early May. It is strips from quilters (and mine) that I traded with when I was still with RCTQ. I wondr if it is still going? The back is butterflies and flowers. The second is made from squares that I trade (we bet on baseball games) with quilters.. I had to crop the pix -- it is queen size. I still have not finished quilting it. I probably won't finish till next spring. Both are for the summer cottage. I have another unfinished in WA that I will finish this winter for the condo.

I enjoy scrappy quilts.Mim

RCTQ is alive and well! I am still there every day. It is now a FB board you can find us there. Please go and come back to us. There are still many familiar faces there. Your quilts are great! My handle there is juliasb too. Same as it always has been.

Lovely quilts! Since I started machine quilting, I had forgotten how long it takes to hand-quilt a quilt...and your post reminded me. Oh my! I remember the quilt 'living' on the dining room table for months...until it was complete....(I used a hoop for quilting).

Beautiful quilts. I like scrappy quilts too.

Great quilts!

Wonderful quilts...sounds like a fun and interesting way to trade fabric with your quilting friends. Where do you spend the summers in Maine?

Sallybear6 09-09-2019 03:25 AM

I really like your quilts. I think you have inspired me to attack the many bags of scraps that I possess.

Very nice...thanks for sharing.

Very nice work. I don't seem to have an "eye" for putting my scraps together like many of you on this Board. But I keep saving them in hopes one day something will click in my mind. Thanks for sharing.

I am in Cushing in the summer. On Wednesdays I go down to our local library and join some other ladies most are knitting and one other is quilting. Some weeks, those 2 hours are all I get to hand quilt.

I've been busy making new drapes for the bedroom. The ones there are more than 25 years old. Of course, they only see sunlight for half the year. I lined them so they didn't fade.

Nice quilts.

Really like the two quilts. You did a great job on both. Scappy quilts are my favorites too.

sewbizgirl 09-09-2019 08:40 PM

Great scrappies, Mim! Scrappies always look so cozy.

Iceblossom 09-10-2019 06:54 AM

Love them both! I am very challenged by sampler type quilts and admire seeing them done by others.

I really like the second top, I was recently gifted a huge bunch of squares and maybe cutting them into triangles is the way I should go with them...

Great scrappies Mim. I love them both. Row Robins are so much fun. Looks like you and your friends had a great time. And, the second one is my favorite. The scrappier the better. Looks like you did alright with your winnings. Sounds like great fun.

actually I made half square triangles and then made them into quarter squares. I just used a bunch of extras to make a baby quilt for a soon-to-be GG daughter.

By doing chain piecing it was a snap. I started out with 6 1/2 inch squares and ended up with 5 1/4 inch unfinished. Most of my scrappy quilts are odd size blocks.
