Here is a raggedy purse I made for my sister's 12th birthday. These were her favorite colors, black, lime green and blue. She loved it. The other is a Carebear diaper bad I made for my cousin. I forgot to the any pictures right after I had made it so this is the only one I have, you can't see the detail very well but you can at least see it. LOL. I quilted the carebear stars on the inside pockets of this one. If i would have had more time, i would have quilted them on the outside too.

And here is the latest raggedy purse I have made. It is an americana purse. The next one is a sunflower one, which I think I might quilt sunflowers on instead of the X's....They were just fast and easy..hahahaha...time to move on the next level. Let me know what you guys think. I think when I make a few more I might alternate patterns and use bigger blocks too, depending on the size of the purses.

Sometimes when I post things, it shows up more than once at first. THen, it usually goes away??? The Americana purse pics didn't open for me?? That's the first I've seen of the diaper bag. Nice work. :D
Thanks for sharing. All of those are really pretty. |
Heather these are so cute! I bet they were fun to make. Are these your own designs? I don't know which is my favorite, I love them all. Nice work, and thanks for posting the pictures :D
|
nice job onthe very cute love the care bead diaper bag
|
Thank you all for you kind, encouraging words! Yes, these are ALL my own designs. I love making these. they are really fun just time consuming when you have to cut each fringe...lol. Next, I think I am going to alter my patterns and use different size blocks. :)
|
can you tell me size of the blocks that you make the bags out of i would appreciate it thanks dorothy from tenn they are beautiful
|
Middysmom,
They are 4 1/2" blocks. That is all I have used so far. I think the next one I make will be a little bit bigger and a different design. I finally finished my sunflower purse yesterday, I will post pics soon. You will enjoy making these. :D |

Here are a few of my raggedy purses I've made over the last few months. I just came across my post again and realized I forgot to post them after I said I would. LOL. I've been making raggedy purses for almost a year now and I have been selling them online and by taking orders for custom made purses. I recently just had my first purse party which was very fun and exciting and am getting ready to do another within the next couple of months. I make 3 main sizes but if the customer requests something different, I make whatever size they want. I also make diaper bags of different sizes, wallets, makeup bags, change purses and checkbook covers. I'll post a few and then more later, when I get them downloaded on my computer. Hopefully it will let me post pictures this time. LOL. Hope you enjoy these!

Heather,
Those are great! I love the monkey one! Monkeys are so cute. :D The middle one looks really familiar...is it the bag we borrowed or one with similar fab? hehe! |
Thanks. I'm in the process of posting more. LOL. My dial-up and I are going to fight. The middle one is a small purse like the material made from the bag you borrowed. I loved this material together and made myself a small purse, wallet, make up bag and recently the tote bag, which I still have yet to take pictures of...lol.
I loved the monkey one too. I almost couldn't part with it. LOL. |
Love them, they are all so cute! Such a wonderful variety of fabrics :D
|
GORGEOUS!!!! Did you put zippers in all of them? Are your co-workers buying these from you?

|
could you please tell me where you got the pattern thanks dorothy from tenn.

Actually, it is my own pattern, they all are. I have put zippers in them before, but mostly I use magnetic snaps. I'll post a few pictures of the inside just as soon as it lets me post them.
Sharon, I do not have co-workers, as I am self-employed. LOL. I have quite a few repeat customers and many many new customers that were referred to me by the repeats and also just other people who have seen my purses. I hadn't planned on selling them until people kept asking everytime I carried them, so of course, I couldn't keep these to myself. LOL. 8) I had my first purse party and sold quite a few purses and scheduled 2 other purse parties for the Fall. I am working on some purses for the fall, but first I have to get my current orders finished. LOL. Wal-Mart has some very cute fabrics out right now that I just "had to have" lol, so hopefully, I'll have those finished before long. I have sold a few on ebay. I am working on getting a website up and running just for my purses. I also make candles and jewelry along with many other things. As soon as it is up, I'll post it on here. I line each of them with batting. At first, I had been putting a full lining inside rather than sewing each block individually like a rag quilt. I'll post pics of both. I also put pockets with velcro on the inside and out. Ruth, what exactly do you mean about finishing the top? Do you mean the handles or the snap or what? sorry..it's late and my brain isn't with me right now. |

nice work. love the purses and bags. will you be willing to share or sell your patterns? i have been looking for quilted purses to make for my girls for xmas. and have been undecided with what i have found. i really like yours. jeanette
|
jeanette, I actually sell my purses and have purse parties. I have sold a few on ebay but am working on getting a website up and running. I am going to start making precut patterns and selling them. I think at the beginning of this post, I talk about how to make them but not a definite pattern. If you'd like I can pm you the instructions so you can make them for Christmas for your girls.
|
heather that would be great. i really appreciate it. i'm not familiar with the (pm). do you mean postmark? i would like to buy them from you. but since i am new to quilting this year. i thought that it would be nice to give my girls something that i have made for them. they are older and on their own now. and i think that it would be something special from me. sounds like you are doing well for yourself. i wish i was creative like that to make things on my own. sounds like you are having lots of fun and doing good for yourself. jeanette
|
Pm stands for private messages, sorry I should have been clear on that! LOL. At the top of the screen it says Private Messages, when I send you a private message it will say (1). Just click on it and you'll see my message. I'll send you one right now, so look for it! LOL! :D
