Here's what I've been working on:
#1 - I was at a retreat where we received a 7 fat quarter bundle. No one liked the fabrics. We were challenged to make something and bring it back this year...Ha! It's a virtual retreat now! I added a fat quarter and the borders to make this top. #2 - This quilt was started piecing at the same group's retreat in 2018. I finished the flimsy by 2019 retreat and got it quilted for show and tell at this year's retreat. #3 - Disappearing nine patch - I mistakenly miscalculated how big and how many squares of this quilt I needed when I was new to quilting and making a quick quilt for a friend's 50th birthday. These are the leftovers! I got the blocks sewn into flimsy status at a UFO day at guild in the fall, and finally finished it up this past few weeks. #4 - This Quilt of Valour (may have been posted before? I am not sure) - my friend and I cut kits to make each block and at our 2019 retreat quilters could sew a block if they wished. Another friend and I finished the rest of the blocks. I put the blocks together and quilted it. It will be donated to Canada's Quilts of Valour program later this year where their goal is 20,000 quilts in 2020. #5 - Welcome Home to Canada wallhanging - this was a kit I purchased at Quilt Canada I think in 2018. I had started to piece it, but it got set aside. I finished the piecing and the quilting this past few weeks. And that's it - except for two quilts I have to finish the binding on - more about them when they're done and shown here! Stay healthy, stay quilting folks! |
They are all beautiful, but I especially like #5, I just love your border.
|
Number 5 is my favorite too. It's got a lot of personality! Nice work on all of them.

I love them all. You have really been busy the past couple of years.
|
Number 3 looks just like my double slice quilt pattern from MSQC. All are really good.

They are all beautiful. I'm always drawn to quilts on black, and your blocks are like jewels against the black sashing. This is the first time I've heard of quilts of valor in Canada, so I'm glad you mentioned that. Another reason to make quilts! Thank you!!
|
Beautiful quilts … you should be proud!
|
Sorry you were unable to attend your quilt retreat this year. You met the challenge with your FQ's and made an awesome quilt. I don't see any ugly fabrics that you mentioned as the challenge. Thank you for the quilt show. You stay healthy and quilting as well!
|
Thank you for your quilt show. Your quilts a lovely and you "to do" list 5 quilts shorter!! Isolation has made you very productive! Love number 2. It is my kind of quilt, black and vibrants. I like your idea of kits for your retreat and making a QOV as a whole group. Shh, don't tell any one. I may steal your idea for our fall retreat. Our spring retreat is today, tomorrow and Sunday but we are all sheltering in place and checking in with each other via Zoom multiple times over the week-end.

Such pretty quilts - I wonder how #3 would look with the #5 border.

They are all such beautiful quilts. I like the last one first, then the log cabin QOV, then the black sashed... oh heck I like them all! Good work!
