Nope, quilted the entire thing on my Janome 6500 with FMQ. I find it peaceful as long as I have the time to do it.

Inquiring minds want to know!!!!

I really want to be able to do that. Your feathers are perfect!! Tell me how to free motion like that. Did you mark first, and if you did what are you using for marking??? Please tell me your steps so someday I can attempt to quilt like you. I can't believe the perfection

I practiced for about half a day on a small piece of the same type of batting I was using, sandwiched between scrap fabric of the same weight. After I felt a bit more confident, I plunged in. I marked that are inside the blocks with a sliver of Dove white soap because it showed up better on the darker fabrics. For the feathers around the borders, I used Fons & Porter's white mechanical pencils. It erased nicely from the tan fabrics. Now that it's finished I'll throw it in the wash to make sure that the soap residue is all washed away.

beautiful

sewaholic 03-01-2011 02:13 PM

Looks lovely. The quilting is just right. Great choice of color. Sometimes too much quilting is done and takes away from the pattern.
Great combination of both.

GORGEOUS!! I am especially attracted to that tree block. I've never seen one like this. Have I been hiding under a rock? Are those little 4-patches? Your colors are great!

eiltcoq 03-02-2011 04:49 AM

PS150, Your quilt is beautiful. What is the name of the pattern? Or did you just pick out the blocks you wanted to do? I love the red/gold colors together. Thanks for sharing. Eiltcoq.

Tolelady53 03-02-2011 04:52 AM

I actually saw a picture somewhat like this in a quilting book and thought I would mimic that quilt but that one had blacks and I chose to do with darker tans and even browns instead.
