Beautiful! Is it white with light tans or off whites? One angle looks like it's white - I just love the affect of how it looks. Gorgeous.

Janice, is there lace on a few blocks. It turned out great & I really like the effect the light colors give.

Thanks...there's no white in it..it's a light cream, but the pic comes up almost white. It's all creams and beiges :)

Nice use of Neutrals to make a subtle yet distinguished quilt.

I bought a book on how to do that, since I do so many bold colors - thought I needed to explore the softer side of quilting. The book was by Alex Anderson and she did examples of what you did instinctively. Nice job....

I can't believe it is only your second quilt! Congrats and keep on quilting!

Crlyn 09-18-2010 06:41 PM

Thanks...yes, there is a little bit of lace on all the blocks (I think..lol).

There are some patches of satin too, for those who commented that it almost looked like satin. They are the much darker patches I think :) The rest is cotton

I have wondered what a crazy quilt, all one color, would look like, now I am excited to do one. Yours is so elegant and well done. Now, do I want to do one in white or creams? I am all giddy with excitement and picturing my stash and wondering if I need to go shopping. YIPPEE!

Hi..and thanks. I wouldn't mind sharing the pattern at all..except, there isn't one :). It's something I made up radomly as I did each block. Sort of started with a random shape piece of fabric placed roughly in the centre of the block and stitched it straight onto the batting and backing and then proceeded to progressively add pieces to it, covering up raw edges as I went. Sometimes I pieced 2 pieces together and then sewed them onto the block, overlapping the previously sewn piece on the block. Sometimes it was a juggle to fit the pieces in and cover the last remaining raw edge and I had quite weird shaped blocks until I trimmed it back to the block size.

Sorry if I'm not explaining it very well.

That's a beautiful quilt - very elegant - and I don't think it matters one bit if you didn't approach it in the "correct manner". I love the fabrics and lace you have used plus great quilting and you should be very proud of your work.
