Even though I haven't quilted since high school (LONG ago), and haven't sewn in 25 years prior to starting quilting, I had been sewing since I was in second grade. My first quilt was a "wonky 9 patch", this one is Sunny Days by Darlene Zimmerman, only I made the finished blocks 9" instead of her 6" to show off the repro fabric better. I did a post of this when I started, thought you may want to see the end product. My SIL did the FMQ, she did an amazing job.

So pretty!!!

Xstitshmom 07-31-2011 10:16 AM

This is a very pretty quilt. I need to learn how to "enlarge" blocks -- haven't mastered that technique yet. Maybe somebody here can tell me how to do that!

Robin57 07-31-2011 10:17 AM

Thanks for sharing that is beautiful!

Very pretty. Keep up the good work.

Love it!
I want to make a retro quilt too. None in my stash tho, so will have to wait awhile.

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 07-31-2011 10:23 AM

I love the old fashioned look it has!

QuiltE 07-31-2011 10:30 AM

Looks like you have not forgotten a thing and have only gotten better with time!!! :)

Fun! I love the repro '30's fabric, I have some in my stash waiting for me to get to it... : )

JEM65 07-31-2011 11:18 AM

Oh this is wonderful! I am currently enthralled with the 30's fabrics. Have a look at dashton4 on the board she makes wonderful quilts and pillows from 30's fabrics - amazing. She has also written several pattern books.

Page One of the thread has your original post and the first bunch of replies.
The quilt you just posted here, you have in a different thread, with replies there too!

I think this is a great quilt!!! I love the fabric! Nice job on the quilting, too! I like your idea about enlarging the blocks to see the fabric better!

buddy'smom 07-31-2011 12:02 PM

Oh, I love it and made from one of my favorite fabrics.

4girlsmimi 07-31-2011 12:42 PM

Beautiful quilt! Love it!

jzaaboo 07-31-2011 01:38 PM

It's weird, can't see either poat... Anyway, here is my third quilt, which I put on a separate post. It has mistakes where the second one didn't. Tried to hurry and have it done before summer was over, and concentrated on the points not getting cut off. I posted this on this thread to see if a reply would make it so I could see anything I posted, but it didn't help.

When I just posted, I could see p2, and your reply, but if I go to page one, nothing. Can't see the pinwheel (third quilt) post at all. I've never had that issue on here before. Anyway, glad ya'll can see this and I'll check out all of yours!

labug 07-31-2011 01:42 PM

Pretty

Annaleehunter 08-01-2011 04:39 AM

Beautiful! Reminds me of my Grandmother's quilts!

jzaaboo 08-01-2011 04:40 AM

On my work computer, I can see the replies fine, thanks guys! I use an Easy Angle template, so it made it easy to enlarge the blocks. Instead of making 2" triangle squares and 6" finished, I just made 3" triangle squares. I used the Conpanion Angle to make the hourglass squares, so it was easy to change it from 6" finished to 9". I love reproduction fabrics, too, I'm sure I'll make another one soon; trying to find some old fashioned pattern w/o applique or paper piecing.
