The Cotton Theory Method is a quilt-as-you-go process. It was invented by Betty Cotton (that's really her name!) and is described in her two books. In this method, you quilt a block or small section, then join it to another quilted block with a 1 inch seam. The raw edges of the seam are turned under on TOP of the quilt and sewn down with decorative stitches. You can see an example of the joining seams in the close-up photos above.
