I posted pics a while ago about my son Michael that made a tote. He is my special child and there are lots of things he can't do but he had a great time making his tote. Your feedback was wonderful and just made his day. He was so excited. About a week later he brought a package to me when I got home. He thought it was a squishy for me but it had his name on it. I told him it was for him and was he ever excited. He couldn't get it opened fast enough and loved everything inside. ( It was from imjustme ) He was so happy to get a squishy just like I do. Thank you imjustme. You made his day.

Awwww, imjustme, that was so very thoughtful. It looks like he loved it! I'm waiting to see more totes from him. :-D

Hi Michael,

I really like your tote bag. It looks like you did a great job
It also looks like you have some "camping" fabric to make another one. Whatever you make, please have your Mom post a picture so we all can see.
Is that your pet hamster or guinea pig I see behind you?
Take care and keep sewing...you are doing great :-D :-D :-D

Way to go Michael! You rock! Can't wait to see your next tote!

no1jan 03-30-2010 03:29 PM

I didn't see this topic. I had responded on your earlier one!

Boy that is one happy fellow!

What a fantastic job on the tote. You both should be very proud.

I have a forever brother, and when he is able to do something it comes out wonderful. I see Michael is the same way.

My father who is no longer with us used to say, that if he wasn't mentally challenged he would be a genius! I believe that honestly.

If you PM me your address, I will send Michael some material for another project.

Don't want to waste all that talent!

ForestHobbit 03-30-2010 03:34 PM

Oh that made me cry. How special.

ToucanSam 03-30-2010 03:36 PM

Michael, that looks GREAT!!!!!!! Keep it up, we want to see more pictures of your work! :)

(And where did y'all find the pattern?)

Gal 03-30-2010 03:50 PM

What a lovely story and great pics, what will your next project be together I wonder? I am not sure what a 'squishie' is but if I keep reading I guess I am sure to find out!
Keep up the good work!

Gal

What a great "going to market" tote. Keep up the great work Michael.

nursie76 03-30-2010 06:41 PM

A squishie is a package in the mail with fabric in it. Usually it comes in a mailing envelope and so is not stiff, but "squishie". Hopefully that makes sense, cause it's kind of hard to explain.

Michael, You did such a good job. I think tote's can be kind of hard to make sometimes, so I am impressed. And, I love your chicken fabric. I would definitly pick that out. I love fabric with chickens on it. I am always looking for some, and you put it together well in a way that really looks great.

PghPat 06-11-2010 12:44 PM

This is such a heartwarming thread. I had an aunt who was 20 years older than I but she was like my baby sister for MANY years and I loved her to death. Her favorite things to do were stringing beads and doing Lite Brite and her eyes lite up like the Light Bright when someone did something nice for her. I sure miss her but love reading these kind of stories.

As someone else asked - where could I find the pattern for that wonderful looking tote that Michael made? So happy to learn what a squishy is too. I'm a new quilter and new on the board but I'm learning more every day.

There are so many awesome people on this board!

sweet 06-11-2010 12:51 PM

That is a great tote! I hope you make more of them. Are you going to start on a quilt?

wvdek 06-11-2010 02:21 PM

Michael,
