My string squares
2 Attachment(s)
Been a different fall and winter..had a new great grandson in November, lost my 95 year old dad last month...so haven't been able to settle down and focus on my larger projects..so in my spare moments I’ve tackled my huge over flowing bushel basket of mostly flannel scraps,a few minky and fleece strips too.. string squares are very mindless and addicting and fun..I start with a 10 inch square of scrap muslin..start in the middle with a long strip and keep on going....spent today trimming them all to 9-1/2 inch. Next I will actually put them together with narrow black flannel sashing..then donate them to nursing homes or hospice.

lovely! I do that too.

Lovely and cozy string blocks. They will be well loved and appreciated when you donate them and the process will help you move back to your bigger projects. Congratulations on the new great grand baby

Very nice blocks.
Congrats on the new Great Grandbaby. Sorry for the loss of your Father. We had a new Great Granddaughter, expecting a 7th Great Grandbaby early March, a boy. Great Grands are wonderful. |
I totally agree that string blocks can be wonderful therapy--and you are going to benefit others too.

Congratulations on the new great grandchild. Sorry for the loss of your dad.
Your blocks will make a great quilt! |
That is a great way to use up scraps. It is very nice that you donate to nursing homes and hospice. It is very hard to loose a Parent. May peace be with you and your family.
|
Great job on all those blocks for donation quilts. May your stitches and those quilts bring you comfort in the midst of life changes.

This winter has been difficult for you. Getting back into your projects and creating these string blocks may help to pull you out of the slump. The blocks are beautiful and well done. They will make some lovely quilts for a nursing home or hospice. Both of these places will appreciate your time and efforts. Nice job!
