Love your jacket.I made one several years ago that is more fitted and I love it. Have to do some repairs on it but never get around to it. Thought about making a whole new top and just sewing it over the old one now.

Just start with a sweatshirt that fits loosely, but not too big. Make sure it has set in sleeves, not raglan.

I didn't have trouble with that - my 1/4 inch seams were zigzagged after I finished the jacket, maybe that helped to keep things flatter.
