I went to the Goodwill store Saturday looking for some storage containers and found a computer desk like one shown in another topic (can't remember which one). I thought it was a great idea since my sewing machine sits on the keyboard shelf and it leaves the rest of the desk open for fabric when sewing. I had priced these desks and they ranged in price from $99 to $135. Not wanting to spend that much I was really glad to find one at Goodwill for only $10. It's a nice sturdy desk that doesn't wabble (?sp). The only thing hubby had to do was move the keyboard shelf out a little so my machine would sit on it with the extension on.

Perfect; I never would have thought about putting the machine on the keyboard shelf!

I didn't realize the keyboard shelf was that strong

This one is fairly sturdy. My machine is not very heavy either. I don't know that I would want to put one of the older "boat anchors" on it. I don't think it would be stong enough. I checked it before I bought it to make sure it didn't shift. This desk also has leveling feet in case the floor is uneven.

Great find! I never thought about using that kind of desk. If it works why not right! Enjoy!!

And it looks like the bed of the machine butts up perfectly against the flat part of the desk

Same here. I thought about it but didn't think it would support my machine.

I would worry that it would tip forward?
